On May 22, 2023, an arsonist set fire to our church and destroyed our beautiful historic sanctuary, along with our neighboring church, St. Stephen’s Episcopal. Perhaps the most painful part of this experience has been to learn that the destruction was an intentional act against our small, but welcoming and inclusive Christian community.

While our congregation was shocked and has been totally devastated, we are recovering. We have learned that with God’s help, our church can rebuild stronger than ever. We have also learned more than we ever knew about the skill, craftsmanship, dedication, and time that went into building the sanctuary by hand almost 120 years ago.

Recovery is a long and arduous process…. We continue to learn a great deal about how much ministry can happen in the most adverse of circumstances and about what our priorities are as followers of Jesus. We have some *big dreams*, as we rebuild.

“Agape Fellowship Hall“: a new multi-purpose facility that will serve the community with a commercial kitchen; community garden; accessible bathrooms and space for shelter; tutoring and youth enrichment; cooking and nutrition classes; English and Spanish lessons; addiction recovery groups; and of course, space for worship.
